Word: Cry
Verse: Psalm 22:2 "O my God, I cry by day, but You do not answer; And by night, but I have no rest." NASB
Facts/Observations: In Psalm 21 David has strength; Psalm 22 he is crying out; Psalm 23 he appears to have peace. Psalm 22 is a foretelling of Christ's suffereing on the cross. He is the only one who was ever forsaken by God--briefly & momentarily--and that for my (our) sake! By the end of Psalm 22 David is reminding himself of God's faithfulness and is turning his thoughts to trusting God.
Application: I am reminded in these Psalms of the ups & downs of this life. We will get discouraged in this world, but 1.) I need never worry about being forsaken because Christ did so for our sake; 2.) Crying out to and relying on the Lord is the right thing to do when I am discouraged. 3.) I need to remind myself of God's faithfulness during discouraging times and trust in Him.
